Lucien's Bayou Home
Biography

Lucien Xavier Montrose was born during the closing years of the nineteenth century during a time of great political upheaval in Texas. Part of a prominent family of Mokole Kinfolk, the Civil War and ensuing reconstruction proved ruinous, and Lucien grew up watching his family's lands slowly depopulate and fall into ruin.

As he came of age and went through his First Change, he embraced his role as a guardian of the wallow, however diminished it might be. However, as the years passed, he could do little as the modern world closed around them and economic and industrial pressures mounted. Feeling unable to protect his kin or the land from these forces, Lucien chose to go into a period of Dragon Sleep. He buried himself in the muddy depths of the swamp, sleeping until the time was right to emerge.

Over a century later, heavy storms in the Summer of 1994 finally roused Lucien from his sleep. Emerging into a changed world, he found his land in ruins and his people scattered. Lucien has resolved to reclaim his role as a guardian of the bayou, determined to rebuild what was lost and defend his ancestral land from any who would disturb its sanctity.

RP Hooks
  • Bayou Guardian: Lucien has a deep connection with his ancestral land and the surrounding bayou, although they have greatly diminished since his younger years. He sees himself as a guardian and steward of the bayou and is highly territorial, driving off any perceived intruders.
  • Out of Time: He has recently awoken from over a century of Dragon Sleep into a world he barely recognises. He's observant and understands that he must adapt to this new time, but he remains a little wary of certain "modern" technologies and innovations.
  • Swamp Lore: Lucien is at home in the bayou, and his knowledge of it runs deep. He's an expert pathfinder and knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, including which of them are toxic and which can be used to make medicines.
  • Rebuilder of the Past: Since reawakening, Lucien has been diligently working to restore his home to its former glory. As territorial as he is about his home, it is a goal he's not likely to be able to accomplish all by himself, and he will need to call on others for help.
  • Ancient Memories: Lucien is accomplished in the Mokolé art of Mnesis, accessing his ancestral memory to recall the events of the distant past. He can remember the arrival of the first mammalian shapeshifters and the start of the Age of Beasts.
