Kahula/Introduction
Born beneath the moonlit canopy of the Pacific Northwest, Kahula spent her early years in the untamed wilderness, living as a lynx before her First Change. The spirits whispered to her even then, their voices woven into the wind and the rustling leaves. As she grew into her Bastet nature, she found herself drawn to mysteries—the hidden, the forgotten, the unsaid. Guided by riddles and half-truths, she sought out lost knowledge, uncovering secrets others dared not touch. Her mischievous streak earned her both admiration and frustration among her kin, but she cared little for their judgments. The world was a puzzle, and she was determined to solve it.
Her travels led her to the decaying remains of a forgotten Uktena caern in the Rocky Mountains, where she uncovered remnants of ancient lore. It was there she met her Spirit Mentor, an enigmatic crow spirit known as Never-Wrong. The spirit challenged her with a series of riddles, and upon answering them, she was granted the first glimpse of the deeper world beyond mortal perception. With the spirit's guidance, she honed her talents in misdirection, illusion, and spirit-speaking, but such knowledge came at a cost. Never-Wrong was a trickster in its own right, and its lessons were never straightforward, forcing Kahula to think in circles just to keep up.
Now, in 1995, Kahula has come to Texas, drawn by the whispers of change rippling through the Gaian community. The fall of the Sept of the Resonant Fury, the rise of the mixed Caern in the Sam Houston Forest, and the stirrings of corruption call to her. Something is shifting beneath the surface, and she means to unravel the threads before they tighten into a noose. There is knowledge to be found, riddles to be answered, and a battle for the spirit world brewing beneath the oppressive heat of Houston’s skyline.
