Mage

From NuMetal Mux

Brief Overview

In the shadowed streets of Houston, a delicate balance of power teeters on the edge of chaos, as the Council of Nine Mystic Traditions, the insidious Nephandi, and the formidable Technocracy vie for control.

Within the Council of Nine, a rift has formed, dividing the once-united faction into two distinct camps. In the heart of Chinatown, a charismatic Vietnam War refugee leads a faction steeped in tradition and mysticism, their allegiance to ancient ways and customs unwavering. Meanwhile, at Rice University, a conservative and powerful Hermetic magus holds sway over a faction driven by knowledge and intellect, their pursuit of arcane secrets guiding their every move.

Amidst this internal strife, the Nephandi lurk in the shadows, their dark influence spreading like a cancer through the city. Led by the powerful and enigmatic Jodi Blake, rumors abound of her decision to stay and live in Houston with her lover, another master of the Nephandic arts. Their presence is a constant threat, their twisted machinations working to unravel the very fabric of reality itself.

And yet, amidst the chaos, the Technocracy stands as a beacon of order and control. Led by a gregarious and charismatic Syndicate financier, they operate under the guise of Project Invictus, a clandestine operation aimed at rooting out corruption within their own ranks. But even as they strive to maintain the status quo, whispers of dissent and betrayal echo through their hallowed halls, threatening to undermine their authority from within.

In this volatile landscape, alliances are forged and broken, loyalties tested, and the fate of Houston hangs in the balance. As the Council of Nine, the Nephandi, and the Technocracy wage their silent war, the city becomes a battleground for the very soul of magic itself. And in the end, only one faction will emerge victorious, while the others are consigned to the annals of history.

Conflicts

Master Tran's faction in Chinatown operates with a deep reverence for tradition and spirituality. Their rituals are elaborate and steeped in centuries-old mysticism, drawing upon the energy of the land and the spirits that inhabit it. Tran himself is a wise and enigmatic leader, his words carrying the weight of generations of wisdom. Under his guidance, his followers strive to maintain harmony with the natural world, seeking balance amidst the chaos of the modern age.

In stark contrast, Archmage Eisenstein's faction at Rice University is a bastion of intellectualism and rationality. Their approach to magic is methodical and precise, rooted in the principles of science and reason. Eisenstein is a formidable figure, his knowledge of ancient texts and arcane lore unmatched. He sees magic as a tool to be wielded with precision, a means to unlock the mysteries of the universe and bend them to his will.

Meanwhile, the Nephandi, led by the enigmatic Jodi Blake, operate in the shadows, their influence spreading like a cancer through the city. Blake is a master manipulator, her dark charisma drawing in unsuspecting victims and twisting their minds to her will. Her followers are fanatical and devoted, willing to sacrifice everything in pursuit of their twisted vision of reality.

And hovering above it all, the Technocracy watches with a careful eye, led by VPO Thompson and her Project Invictus operatives. They see themselves as the guardians of order and stability, working tirelessly to root out corruption and maintain control. But even within their own ranks, whispers of dissent grow louder, as some begin to question the true motives of their leaders.

As the factions vie for supremacy, the fate of Houston hangs in the balance. Will it be consumed by darkness, torn apart by the forces of chaos and corruption? Or will the light of hope prevail, shining brightly amidst the shadows of uncertainty? Only time will tell, as the battle for Houston's soul rages on.
